Stage a Backyard Sanctuary

When you are marketing your home to sell don't neglect to stage your outdoor spaces. Creating a backyard sanctuary is one of the smartest things you can do to make your home stand out from the crowd.

Our lives are all so busy nowadays and people crave a space where they can relax, get in touch with nature and enjoy a private getaway from their hectic lives. Find a sheltered corner of your property and create an inviting spot for your potential buyers to imagine themselves savoring a well-deserved glass of wine after a long hard day. Here are a few ideas to get you started creating your own sanctuary:

Cluster a few comfortable chairs in a friendly conversation grouping where you can enjoy a beautiful view or a quiet sheltered area. If you have a covered porch, a rug and cushions made for the outdoors can remain outside all summer but if not you'll need to bring them inside when rain threatens. If your cushions are looking tired, buying new ones will really add a fresh look to the space. Flowers and plants are a must but be sure they look great- a couple of large pots bursting with colorful flowers or fresh green foliage is easier to take care of and look much better than a bunch of small containers with spindly looking plants in them. People love the peaceful sound of trickling water so include a small water feature or fountain if you can. This also helps to mask traffic or neighborhood lawn mower noise. Candle lanterns or small firepits add a suggestion of warmth and romance even when not lit (never light and leave unattended). Maintain your outdoor living area by regularly sweeping or shaking dust and leaves off your rug and cushions and trimming dead flowers and leaves from plants.

Stage your backyard sanctuary and create a  welcoming and inviting space for your potential buyer to give your home that "something special" they're looking for.
